Silent Monks “singing” the Hallelujah chorus from Handel’s Messiah. This is so clever!

my christmas present from donald

is a new project: a scavenger hunt for 2011.
a photo album where each photo sleeve has a particular quest. trips to the art galleries and the fish markets and the opera house and the sydney tower and to balmoral beach rotunda and to canberra and lots of lovely places.

they each have particular conditions too. the photo taken at his pool has to be of us suspended in mid-air. the photo taken at the glebe market has to be of me wearing the ugliest necklace we can find. the photo at the balmain markets must be of donald wearing the ugliest necklace we can find.

2011 is going to be a wonderful year :’)

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

My prayer for all of you is that you come to know Him personally. That the joy behind Christmas hits your heart and that you realise He stepped down into our world in humility because He loves you so much. Merry Christmas! x

carols were amazing

The singing was wonderful and so many people were blessed tonight. Christ was proclaimed Lord and we sold so many showbags that contained info about the Christmas services. Please pray tons of people turn up! Are any of you guys attending carol services this year? :)

off to carols in vic park ↘

My church, St. Barnabas Broadway, runs the Christmas Carols in Victoria Park every year. We have around 1000 people from around the community rock up for singing, fireworks and family fun. Please pray that God’s love will be so real to everyone who comes and that new relationships will be formed between us and the community. May Jesus be proclaimed King of kings tonight!

I’m a tad late with the welcoming in of December, but I also want to say that an open fire would kill me in this heat. Am looking forward to spending Christmas with my family and my housemate Lizzy, who is coming down to Canberra to spend her first Christmas as a Christian with us!

last night was such a nice evening

  • roaming around Kmart
  • buying mangoes
  • praying together for your Grandpa
  • eating Indian takeout
  • looking at Christmas decorations
  • cuddling on my couch
  • snacking on shortbread

Last year, you came down and stayed with my family in Canberra, and Dad let you drive his car and I took you to the fruit markets. It was such a wonderful week and I’d been looking forward to it for so long. You gave me a hot air balloon ride as part of my Christmas present and I floated above the city (if you can call it a city..!) that I grew up in for the very first time, with your arms around my waist. And because you weren’t going to stay for Christmas, we had an early Christmas eve dinner, and you and I made a feast for my parents. We had Christmas crackers for the very first time in our family and I think I got a nail file as my prize. But it was all splendid and I’m looking forward to next year, when the busy-ness subsides a bit and you come back down to Canberra again.

I haven’t worked in a long time, and I’m hoping to save some money in the holidays! I actually love the Christmas period in retail..I don’t know. It’s something about the opportunity to relieve everyone’s stress just a little bit, and be some sort of reminder that Christmas is a time to celebrate His peace and blessings rather than freak out :)…Plus I enjoy gift wrapping.

i’m excited :D about:

  • the possibility of working in retail this Christmas again!
  • growing ridiculously in Christ and soaking up His presence at the start of every day..feasting on the heavenly bread, as Heidi Baker would put it.
  • moving into a new season in life with new housemates and a new place, saying bye bye to student accommodation
  • finishing this tutorial work for the day
  • coming back to the library tomorrow (i know, total geek)
  • about being at uni next year. walking through the campus makes me realise how wonderful an opportunity going to university is.
  • donald’s graduation next year
  • christmas shopping
  • my new stock that’s going to be delivered to elvis4cleo soon
  • seeing don for lunch and a kiss.

i found this recipe for homemade ferrero rochers ! ↘

not entirely sure where i’ll find hazelnut wafers, but hopefully this will come together nicely for christmas presents! <3
